Unlawful Contact

Investigative journalist Sophie Alton has been telling the story of a young woman who has gone through drug addictions and is in the process of coming clean to get custody of her young daughter when she goes missing with her child. When she is told to talk to the girl’s brother she jumps on the opportunity. Only thing is, he’s a convicted killer, serving time without parole.
Sophie wasn’t prepared to be held hostage by Marc Hunter as a means to escape, but even more she wasn’t prepared for him to be the boy she gave her virginity to in high school.
Sophie and Marc work together to find his sister before she is found by the people who forced her to run in the first place. But the people behind her running won’t go down easy and have a long history that goes back to Marc’s conviction. Freedom seems an impossible dream, their only hope is finding Marc’s sister alive and enjoying the small amount of time they have to be together.
I wanted to love this book since Breaking Point is definitely one of my favs (the most recent in the series) and while I really liked the beginning and end I found myself wanted to skip a majority of the book. There is a huge portion where they don’t do much of anything as they are trying to quietly look for Marc’s sister since they are also hiding fromt he law. Totally random thought but it made me think of the 7th Harry Potter book where half of it is spent with them in the doldrums trying to figure out the next step without getting caught. Only in the HP book it works cause it’s been a long build up of the characters together and it takes that long to split them apart, but in Unlawful Contact I was just bored as shit. So if you skip over the middle this was a solid book, with great twists and surprises, but sadly I can’t give it a thumbs up.
Sex is hot and often, starting out with their sweet coming together in high school the night before Marc started with the military. It’s Pamela Clare, she knows her love scenes.
