Unlawful Contact

Investigative journalist Sophie Alton has been telling the story of a young woman who has gone through drug addictions and is in the process of coming clean to get custody of her young daughter when she goes missing with her child. When she is told to talk to the girl’s brother she jumps on the opportunity. Only thing is, he’s a convicted killer, serving time without parole.

Sophie wasn’t prepared to be held hostage by Marc Hunter as a means to escape, but even more she wasn’t prepared for him to be the boy she gave her virginity to in high school.

Sophie and Marc work together to find his sister before she is found by the people who forced her to run in the first place. But the people behind her running won’t go down easy and have a long history that goes back to Marc’s conviction. Freedom seems an impossible dream, their only hope is finding Marc’s sister alive and enjoying the small amount of time they have to be together.

I wanted to love this book since Breaking Point is definitely one of my favs (the most recent in the series) and while I really liked the beginning and end I found myself wanted to skip a majority of the book. There is a huge portion where they don’t do much of anything as they are trying to quietly look for Marc’s sister since they are also hiding fromt he law. Totally random thought but it made me think of the 7th Harry Potter book where half of it is spent with them in the doldrums trying to figure out the next step without getting caught. Only in the HP book it works cause it’s been a long build up of the characters together and it takes that long to split them apart, but in Unlawful Contact I was just bored as shit. So if you skip over the middle this was a solid book, with great twists and surprises, but sadly I can’t give it a thumbs up.

Sex is hot and often, starting out with their sweet coming together in high school the night before Marc started with the military. It’s Pamela Clare, she knows her love scenes.

And this house isn’t big enough
For the both of us
If you want to leave
Then I know you must

I’m not sure what it is about this song but I love it. Job well done Summer Camp.

Ah man, when she watches him go, knowing that he is going to his death, for his brother and for her, leaving behind a family who loves him and a country that needs him. Beautifully painful.

Hector: You say you’re willing to die for love but you know nothing about dying and you know nothing about love!

V: Listen to me, Evey. This may be the most important moment of your life. Commit to it. They took your parents from you. They took your brother from you. They put you in a cell and took everything they could take except your life. And you believed that was all there was, didn’t you? The only thing you had left was your life, but it wasn’t, was it? You found something else. In that cell you found something that mattered more to you than life. It was when they threatened to kill you unless you gave them what they wanted… you told them you’d rather die. You faced your death, Evey. You were calm. You were still.
Try to feel now what you felt then.

Kickstarts - Bar 9 remix

I realize what I got when I’m out of town
‘Cause deep down you’re my girl in a golden crown
My princess and I don’t wanna let you down

And the love kick-starts again

Love this song. And the video is awesome. Everyone wants a guy who can take on a gang single-handed. And I definitely want to be the girl to kick the shit out of a guy who’s attacking. Bring it on motherfucker.

Cosmo Brown: The price of fame. You’ve got the glory, you gotta take the little heartaches that go with it. Now look at me: I’ve got no fame, I’ve got no glory, I’ve got no big mansions, I’ve got no money! But I’ve got - what have I got? Don Lockwood: I don’t know, what have you got? Cosmo Brown: I gotta get out of here.

Singin’ in the Rain. Another classic I grew up with. We were a musical family!

There’s a special place in my heart for The Philadelphia Story. It’s so well done, and every time I watch it I am again amazed by how smart the dialogue is. And who doesn’t love Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn? If you haven’t seen it, get your hands on it, you can thank me later.
